Strawberry Bread

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 package frozen strawberries, thawed and drained, or 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries
Powdered sugar, to garnish

Cream sugar, butter and almond extract. Add egg yolks. Alternating with strawberries, add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Beat egg whites until stiff; fold into mixture. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
